Tatima and the revenue map do not match the site
A discrepancy between a Tatima, another revenue map and the site needs reconciliation before drawing conclusions about encroachment. Check whether the documents describe the same subdivision, scale and period. A supplementary sketch should not be read without the parent record.
What to examine
Trace the original Khasra and later division, then compare fixed reference points and the deed's property schedule. A fence may not follow the recorded boundary; equally, a private sketch may be incomplete. If an official measurement is disputed, obtain its report and objections rather than replacing it with an unexplained fresh drawing.
Records to collect
- Parent map
- Tatima and subdivision entries
- deed schedule
- measurement report and site photographs
Keep complete, dated copies and preserve originals. Note which records are missing and where they may be requested; do not alter a document to fill a gap in the history.
The applicable framework
For Kashmir property, the revenue entry, registered instrument, physical possession and underlying legal right should be examined separately. Different issues can require different authorities or civil relief. A service directory explains available services but does not replace the governing statute, current notification or an order in the particular matter.
A practical next step
Prepare a discrepancy sheet identifying each inconsistent line or area. Request a record-based explanation and, where appropriate, a properly documented demarcation.
